Weekly Television Roundup

Sit and wait, sit and wait. That’s about all I seem to do these days because it’s any time now that my baby boy could arrive (Oh [Baby] Boy!). However, I have TV to keep me company, so I thought I’d share my thoughts on everything I watched this week.

PS: If you don’t have a baby coming, and you watched all these shows this week simply for enjoyment, zero judgement from me … because baby or not, I’d be right there with you 🙂

Sunday: Real Housewives of Potomac

screenshot-2019-07-17-at-11.20.41-am.png

If you are a Housewife stan and you’re not watching Potomac, ummm what are you thinking? YOU ARE MISSING OUT! These ladies bring it each episode, but this week’s was beyoooooond as news broke that Ashley’s husband sexually assaulted a camera man. I feel bad for Ashley to have to watch this in current time since she just had a baby (last week I think?), and everything in her world should be celebrated right now, not shadowed by this scandal.

As for the other women, Gizelle  was and continues to be so so messy each episode. Even though she’s my favorite, when I think of the drama the ladies have with one another, it’s usually started or prompted by Gizelle. I’m really liking Monique this season. I love her commentary and insight on all the arguments the women have because a) being pregnant, she’s the sober, silent observer & b) she tends to see every side and will tell people when they are right or wrong (cough, Candiace, cough). Robin doesn’t really do anything for me on the show, Karen is old & terrible, and Candiance is the absolute WORST. She’s immature and unreasonable, plus she needs to mind her own business and keep her opinions to herself.

Monday: The Bachelorette

It was Fantasy Suites this week for Alabama Hannah, and she had four guys to spend the night with instead of three. I was shocked, shocked I tell you, that Peter was the windmill date (“Know what? We did it a second time”), mainly just because he doesn’t really ooze sex appeal to me. However, he is my overall pick for Hannah; Peter is who I can picture her with the most.

I appreciated that Hannah felt she needed time with Tyler that didn’t revolve around intimacy, and that she didn’t want to have sex with him in the Fantasy Suite; physicality is not an issue for them. But, I don’t think it was necessary for her to make a big speech or a big deal about it at their dinner. Why couldn’t she just tell him that in the privacy of the Fantasy Suite? It was like she had to let America know she wasn’t planning on sleeping with him. Also …

Screenshot 2019-07-18 at 5.29.41 PM

Jed sucks. Girlfriend or not, he sucks. His temper tantrum about being compared to Luke was unnecessary.  Speaking of unnecessary, why he told Hannah he loved her when a) he came on the show with a girlfriend, b) his family seemed surprised he brought Hannah home (for more on this see Take Back Home, Girl: Bachelorette Edition) and c) it seemed like he was using Luke as a way to leave & get back to said girlfriend. Or maybe not. Regardless of it all, Jed sucks.

But, speaking of Luke, his date was NUTS, wasn’t it? It felt like we were watching someone have a true epiphany right before our eyes, as Hannah found the light and realized how horrible Luke was/is. Not only that, I think she finally saw how easily he can manipulate (or attempt to), but also backtrack, so the person he’s talking to is never really sure what he’s trying to say (#gaslighting). Spoilers for next week’s Men Tell All claim it will basically be the reckoning of  Luke, and if you still are not convinced he’s a terrible human being, go check out the Twitter he just got, and how he attacked Hannah on it. Image result for roll eye emoji

Tuesday: Real Housewives of Beverly Hills

Image result for real housewives of beverly hills reunion 2019

Do you like bon bons?”

So the first part of the Beverly Hills Reunion aired this week, and quite frankly, it was a bit all over the place. First, it started with a flashback to the Season 3 reunion, where Adrienne didn’t show up, and LVP gave her commentary on it, basically saying it was cowardly and wrong for Adrienne to not be there. HA! The hypocrisy of it all! While there was bit more on Vanderpump’s absence, the focus then shifted to Denise, her joining the show, and her life. I really like her, although I’d like to see her get a bit more feisty (which it looks like she might with Camille).

Speaking of Camille, she arrived to the reunion couch next. I think we’ll get more into the drama with her in the next two weeks (is it two or three parts?). The episode ended with the Lucy Lucy Apple Juice drama, and how Teddi got involved or was involved in it. Even though we’re all so sick of discussing this, I felt it was important to hear how Teddi was pulled in from the beginning. I had no idea it was because Dorit didn’t invite her to dinner after last year’s reunion (that was the reason right?). Regardless, Teddi’s feet were really held to the fire about how, yes, she was involved, and it was mainly Andy interrogating her. This will continue more next week I’m sure!

Wednesday: Southern Charm

Image result for southern charm colorado trip   Image result for southern charm colorado trip

Colorado, here they come! While I enjoyed watching this week’s Southern Charm, it was also a little boring at the same time. I mostly am just ready for the reunion because I want everyone held accountable for their actions this season, with footage to back it up. What am I talking about? Well I want Whitney to have to answer for hooking up with Kathryn and then blatantly denying it. I want Craig to have to answer for all his crazy outbursts. I want Austen to have to answer for cheating on Madison (did he actually have a threesome in that ridiculously repeated video?? “MADISON!!”) and where they currently stand today. Finally, I want Cameran to have to answer for all her motherhood comments. As for this week’s episode, it was fine, mostly just them traveling. I’m excited to see more of their actual trip!

Thursday: RHONY Reunion

Image result for real housewives of new york reunion season 11

I plan to recap the reunion in its entirety on a separate post, so you’ll just have to be a bit more patient on this one! However, part two did not disappoint!

In addition: Stranger Things & Younger

My husband and I finished binging the third season of Stranger Things this week. I won’t get too much into into because I don’t want to give away spoilers, but the ending absolutely wrecked me; I admit, I bawled my eyes out.

In my opinion, the season as a whole was the best yet. It was scarier, yet more intriguing, and the scenes between Steve, Robin, Dustin, and Erica were my favorite!

Image result for stranger things season 3

I’m also currently trying to get caught up on Younger. Anyone watch? I won’t dive too much into it either (so if you don’t watch you can skip this section), but currently I’m in the middle of season five. First off, Direct TV and TV Land need to figure their shiz out because I can’t pull up the episodes on Demand, so I have to watch on my leeetle phone screen (#firstworldproblems). Liza needs to figure some things out as well. While I was always rooting for her and Charles, now that he knows her secret, he’s being a little butthead about it, so I just want Liza to quit Emperical, marry Josh, give him the baby he wants, plus deserves, and just live her best life with him! Also, Hillary Duff is the true queen of this show and the main reason I watch!

Image result for younger season 5

Well I think that’s it!! Whew, we made it! See you all next week with a RHONY Reunion recap, a Queer Eye binge, and hopefully a baby!!

Thank you television, social media, and my husband for keeping me sane these last few weeks before Hollywood Hangover Baby arrives!

RHOBH Finale (Season 9)

HOLY CAMILLE DONATACCI GRAMMER MEYER!Image result for rhobh finale

Did she come out guns a blazing during the Beverly Hills finale or what? I mean, it really was the Camille show the entire time (or at least it felt like it). She worked haaaaard during that final party to nab some reunion airtime, which I’m sure she hopes will lead to some full airtime next season.

Speaking of casting (I promise we’ll discuss the episode), since Beverly Hills is coming to a close, we must discuss it in whole. It was definitely not my favorite BH season (Twitter hated it) and I think one of the ways to salvage it is with a huge recast. In my perfect world, Kyle, Dorit, Rinna, and Denise stay … even though I think Denise is boring, I’d like to see her another season. I’d swap Teddi out for Brandi, LVP out for Kim, and swap Camille and Erika. Have Camille be full time and have Erika be a “friend of.” I love love LOVE Erika, but she too, is a bit boring.

Other names that have been thrown around in the press to join the cast include Chrissy Tiegen (who I think would bring the fun & crazy, but not the drama), Kathy Hilton (we’ve already had a sibling of Kyle’s once; we don’t need to try again), and Nicollette Sheridan (who is my #1 pick as a newbie because she already caused a stir this season a bit with Lisa Rinna).

But back to Camille. I don’t fully understand all of her behavior on the finale because at Kyle’s party, she walked in and immediately started yelling . And then just kept yelling.

Image result for rhobh finale                                                                 “SHUT IT DOWN!”

Can we chat with you?”
–“
NO!!”

“Let’s figure out who the mean girl really is!”

Yet … at the end of the night, she hugged Lisa Rinna (after calling her a mean girl & screaming in her face), apologized to Dorit in a somewhat sincere manner (after never really having anything nice to say about her all season), and got into a arguing match with Denise (when Denise had her back almost the entire time).  Camille’s behavior was so wishy-washy confusing, it had to be orchestrated. But, if so, then the old Camille is back and we’ll keep her around to spice things up a bit.

Image result for rhobh finale garden partySIX MONTHS LATER

While the six months later black screen was a bit dramatic, I really loved the garden party Kyle had with all the ladies. First, their looks were absolutely FABULOUS, and bright, and gardeny, and perfect. Second, I thought it was funny how Rinna and Kyle both had LVP run-in stories, especially Rinna’s: she offered LVP money. THEN Erika said something about it being 2019 & why did LVP have wet nails? Honestly, so true!

It was a bit annoying that even on episode 21 everyone was stillllllllllllllllllll talking about the Lisa Vanderpump scandal, and even Bravo contributed by airing her stupid Las Vegas restaurant opening.

Screenshot 2019-07-10 at 5.11.18 PM

I’m sure she’ll be a focus on the reunion. For now, or as the show ended, the core six seem to be on good terms (which may or may not make for a good reunion), LVP is off the show (so hopefully puppy gate is no longer mentioned in future seasons), and we’ll see if or if not a cast shake up occurs! The trailer for the RHOBH reunion is below!

Take Back Home, Girl: Bachelorette Edition

“I’m falling for all four men in different ways; I don’t have clarity.”

Today we will not be discussing that Jed went into this season with a girlfriend, who has since come forward to air all of Jed’s dirty laundry.  We will also not be discussing how completely idiotic Luke P sounds whenever he opens his mouth. Finally, we won’t be discussing Hannah’s past actions or choices.

Instead, we’re here to recap and react to hometown dates only; in fact, my thoughts below were written straight during each commercial break

Peter’s Hometown
Image result for hannah brown hometowns
Obviously he was going to take her flying; I’d have been very upset if he didn’t. It was pretty darn cute when he took her by the mansion and by his house! Peter is 100% my first choice for Hannah as a future partner, however, I’m not sure she feels the same way. He reminds me a bit of Blake from Becca’s season: he’s a good good dude, who has fallen hard, but will probs get his heart broken.

Peter’s family: so adorbs, just like him! It was a tad awkward at the beginning when she cut him off and explained to his family how she needed him to open up early on, making her sound like a bossy little B. In contrast, his family appeared more reserved, calm, and laid back. Further, they seemed like genuine, honest, real, nice people, all who Hannah could easily crush; please Hannah, don’t crush them.

Tyler’s Hometown
Image result for tyler's hometown date
I’m so confused where Hannah gets the vibe that Tyler is not ready to commit; does she mean specifically a proposal? If you follow him on social media, (plus evidence from the show) he seems like one of the most down to earth, authentic dudes. Not being ready to commit (to me) is an excuse to call him immature, and Tyler does not seem that to me … at. all.

Image result for tyler and luke the bachelorette

Not everyone can be as mature as Tyler …

Oh my gosh, Tyler and his family brought on round two of tears! The bond between Tyler and his dad made me believe in the goodness of humanity and family, especially in a broken world … or this stupid world of Bachelor Nation and reality TV.  Again with Hannah questioning if Tyler was or is “ready” … girl, if you can’t see how real and true he is (AND READY), then let him go; let him be with someone who would fully appreciate everything he could offer.

Luke’s Hometown
Screenshot 2019-07-07 at 5.14.02 PM
I’m so confused; was Luke preaching to people younger than him, like as a cautionary tale? Why was he telling this story and who are these people? Ohhh! I get it! These must be actors he paid to tell Hannah how great of a person he is because throughout their entire journey together no one has said a kind word about him. In all honesty though, Luke can have any belief or faith he wants; I respect him for it, however, I think he preys on Hannah’s beliefs to get closer to her. Sorry not sorry; he’s just not genuine.

Peter and Tyler’s families both made me cry; you could tell how much they miss not having their son around, you could tell how much they want their son to be happy and taken care of and loved. I saw none of this with Luke’s family.
(Shoot, they probably preferred him gone!)

Jed’s Hometown
Screenshot 2019-07-07 at 4.53.32 PM
Obviously Jed took Hannah to a recording studio. Why wouldn’t he? He was soooo honest with her about how he initially came on the show for his music. But, she changed all that, so now because he was soooo honest, why can’t he have both his music and the girl? What makes me most upset about this date was, if I didn’t know he came into all of this with a girlfriend, I would’ve thought the song they wrote and the recording of it was sweet and real.

Then: Jed’s family.

Screenshot 2019-07-09 at 10.28.36 AM.png

They really did look confused and not too thrilled to have Hannah there (maybe because they already knew Jed had a gf & didn’t expect him to make it to hometowns??). It was sad actually to watch because Hannah was so excited to be there. Perhaps, their disgust wasn’t with Hannah though, but with Jed because he’s a liar liar pants on fire! I mean his mom even toasted to honesty! I quote: “When you stick to your truth, it’s beneficial to everyone.”

You can’t make this up!

Or, could it be they just want Jed to focus on music? His sister did tell Hannah, “Him falling in love with you may not be a good thing…” Needless to say, the family Hannah was probably most looking forward to meeting, was a complete let down.

Rose Ceremony
Image result for the bachelorette
I had read a spoiler that Hannah took (or is taking) four men to the fantasy suite, so I knew what was coming once we got to this point in last night’s episode. The only shocking part was learning production keeps roses lying around in case Hannah needs an extra.

Obviously Peter and Tyler deserved the first two; their families compared to Luke’s and Jed’s were day and freaking night! The amount of love Peter and Tyler were surrounded by warmed my dark, cynical heart. You know who did not have a warm heart though? Jed. He was pissed he got the last rose. He felt (or still feels going into next week) that maybe Hannah is not his girl if she had to narrow her choice down between him and Luke.

Hmmm … this sounds to me like maybe at this point Jed’s still trying to find a way out the whole mess he created to get back to the girlfriend he left at home?? Guess we’ll just have to wait and seeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Big Brother is Back (& I don’t hate it…)

I’m finally caught up on Big Brother and ready to discuss!

Mostly because, I’m not hating it … yet. I’ve watched BB for ten years now (Season 11 was my first) and the last few years have been paaaaainful to get through. Season 15 had some of the worst humans possible on the show, who made terrible, racist comments toward one another. Seasons 18 & 19 brought us not one, but TWO summers of Paul Abrahamian. And last season was basically just one side of the house against the other, with no one enjoyable to root for.

But this year …

Image result for big brother 21 gif

… doesn’t suck (so far)! In fact, I look forward to watching it on Sunday! Let’s get into it!

The House Guests

Image result for big brother 21

As the show progresses, I know I’ll be flippy-floppy on who I enjoy, but right now I really find everyone pleasant, except for Jason Momoa (I don’t even know his first name, but you know who I’m talking about). I don’t like how he tried to control the HOH this past week (Christie I think her name is? She reminds me actually of Christmas from a few seasons back, the contestant, not the season). And NOW *spoiler* he’s is the HOH for this upcoming week. Ugh.

Image result for jason momoa annoyed

Every year, I root for an all girls alliance, but sadly it seems like that won’t be the case, yet again. However, I guess it possibly could still happen as Christie decided to not complete Jason Momoa’s plan. I’d love to see them all band together to get out Momoa and his sidekick, homeboy Jackson. I also wouldn’t be sad to see Kat or Kemi leave as well; I read both their bios, and their BB knowledge seems quite limited, which always annoys me when CBS casts people who haven’t watched much of the show. So far, my favorites include Holly, Tommy, Nick, and Sam.

The Twists

While I think the secret powers are kind of dumb, I am obsessed with this Camp Comeback twist! Basically, the first four evicted leave the game (no comps or voting), but can continue to live in the house socially, with a chance to eventually enter back into the game (only 1 person). But, why I love this so much is if you’re Head of Household and evict someone, they don’t leave! They’re still in the house living right along side you, discussing with others why they got voted out, and hovering around with a chance to come back into the game fully.

Image result for mind blown gif

David (who was gone too soon) and Ovi (who is so sweet & enjoyable) are the first two in this camp. I think both of them are strong players socially and could shake up alliances, especially because it seems like some house guests are starting to crack (Christie, Kat).

For Now

Hopefully I can keep up and not fall behind with the show like I have in the past. It can be really hard, especially with it airing three days a week.

I predict Jason Momoa will target Kemi because that’s who he wanted out originally; she has no game knowledge and seems like she’s only good for talking smack on people, so I see her getting really upset with being nominated. I’m here to watch her implode … explode? Or, I could see Momoa being upset with Christie for not nominating Kemi last week like he wanted; Christie is in his alliance, so that too would be a shake up. It’s boring to me when alliances stay together for week after week, running the house; I like when they implode … explode? and there is oodles upon oodles of drama!

It’s pretty early to predict winners; I’d really like Sam Smith, aka Daffy Duck, win because he’s a dad and seems like a good dude. I also respect Nick and wouldn’t mind seeing him win because hes child therapist; I mean, what an incredible job to have!

Make sure you’re following me on Twitter for continued updates on all things BB21!

Oh [Baby] Boy!

Where has My Hollywood Hangover been?

Today’s post is going to be a little different; no celeb gossip or housewife drama to discuss. Instead, we’re getting a little personal together, and I’m going to share a bit about myself and my family.  I’ve been slacking some on recaps and reviews, in fact, I haven’t really written anything in about a month. Instead I’ve been preparing my body and my home for …

Image result for its a baby gif

OUR FIRST BABY!!!

Our Story

My husband and I have been together for almost ten years and have been married for about five. We survived college together, we’ve lived in small, dingy apartments, we had the best wedding & bought our first home, and we have amazing family and friends; we’re so so blessed and feel like we’ve been through it all.

img_0814

Two years ago, we decided we wanted to start a family. The timing was right, and we felt we had experienced everything we wanted to share together as a duo; this should be easy!

What was the movie where they discuss french kissing leading to… ? Oh yeah!

Image result for now and then movie gif
Sidebar: If you haven’t see Now and Then, RUN, do not walk to find a copy of it. Pop culture CLASSIC!! (Hmmm, maybe it should be the next Movie of the Week?)

Anyway, that is not how it worked for us. In fact, in our first year of trying, we didn’t get pregnant. Nor did we our second year. Even though it’s becoming less of a taboo topic, no one likes to discuss infertility issues. Family members would ask, “When are we going to expect a little one?” or I would hear horror stories at my job or in the news of children being mistreated by their parents. In those cases I would think to myself, why are people gifted a child if they can’t properly care for one ? Shoot, we even passed a pregnant lady living on the street once, and my husband knew to move me to the other side of the road because he thought I’d get upset … which I did.

And look, it wasn’t her fault and anyone’s fault we were struggling. But the concept of being a woman unable to do what I felt at the time I was put on earth to do was extremely frustrating. Then came the comments of, “Well it will happen when it’s supposed to happen,” or “There is a plan for everyone.” For the people who make those comments, they don’t tend to help. #sorrynotsorry We ended up seeing a specialist and got all the regular tests done. We were told the good news was nothing was wrong (yay!), but the bad news was nothing was wrong (wait, what?), meaning it really would “happen when it’s supposed to happen.”

In November of last year, the hubs and I decided we would try intrauterine insemination, or IUI as it’s known. (Look it up for a more medical definition if that’s your thing). We had all our ducks in a row to start the process, and found out …. we didn’t have to do it! The month we were to try IUI, we ended up getting pregnant!

I have no idea if the stress was lifted because we knew we would be trying a medical intervention, or maybe it just was “the right time” as everyone kept saying. Whatever the case, our miracle baby was conceived, and we knew the next nine months were about to get cray.

My Pregnancy Journey

I wake up (multiple times actually, to pee) everyday and can’t believe this is happening to us. I look in the mirror and don’t think my growing belly is real. I haven’t fully grasped the concept of how drastically my life will change or that a new person, who is half of me, will soon be moving in and not leaving anytime soon. My mind has yet to wrap around it all and may not until he’s here.

Image result for having a baby gif

KIDDING, KIDDING, KIDDING! But for real, pregnancy is hard ya’ll. Women are warriors, in case you needed that reminder. And, I’ve even had a fairly smooth journey. While I definitely got nauseous, I never actually had true morning sickness. My feet didn’t swell, and the little guy measured perfectly at every checkup.

img_1886

At the same time, no one really tells you how difficult the journey can be. Here you are, growing a human inside of you. Happy hour with the girls or a few glasses of wine during housewives? Gone. No one tells you that with every toss & turn during sleep, there is pain. No one tells you the amount of pressure you’ll feel, and I don’t even mean the physical pressure of tiny feet pushing on your ribs. How much you work out or the amount of water you drink, or literally anything you eat, can positively or negatively affect the baby (& according to Google it’s probably both).  While it’s an absolute joy to feel your baby move inside of you, every day is scary as hell, and in a way I can’t fully explain, you feel like you’re not 100% you anymore.

I don’t mean to say I’m not excited, thrilled, over the freaking MOON to become a mom, but I think it’s okay for women to admit that pregnancy can be really really hard too.

Four Weeks Left

I should be filling my time writing on here, instead of researching birthing stories and falling down into rabbit holes of what could possibly go wrong. But, don’t we all run to the internet, at times we know we shouldn’t, and read articles that make us worry more? I’m trying to do better.

I don’t know what the future holds for my little internet blog; it has been the best two years with this simple hobby of mine. I’ve met many amazing people though the social media accounts linked to this, and have really enjoyed being able to express myself. I plan to continue to write, but I guess we’ll just have to see if the little guy allows for it.

Katy_Austin_Henry_Maternity-54

To all the moms out there who have the hardest job on the planet, whether on your own (which I have NO IDEA how you do it) or with a full support team, please remember: moms are real life superheroes the world sometimes forgets exist.

To those with their own sweet babies growing in their bellies: yay you! You’re going to be an incredible mother! I recommend taking classes and learning all you can about the amazing changes your body is going through and will go through. Good luck on your journey!

To those struggling to get pregnant: you are not alone! Research support groups in your area, or find one online. I would say, “Stay positive” but that can be immensely difficult to hear. It’s okay to get angry or discouraged, yell, scream, drink too much wine one night, and be disappointed. Talk to someone and share your feelings; do not keep it all bottled inside. And, don’t give up. It’s not an “if” for you, but a “when.”

To my sweet boy: I can’t wait to meet you and watch you grow, terrified as I am. I hope you love playing sports with your daddy and love watching movies with your mamma. Big things are in store for us all!

Chasing Happiness

“Hey brothers, you want to do something awesome together?”

Image result for jonas brothers chasing happiness gif

You guys. This documentary is EVERYTHING!!!

Screenshot 2019-06-04 at 10.38.33 PM.png

And I’m not even a Jonas Brother stan, at least not originally. “Burning Up” was/is probably one of my top 10 favorite songs ever, and I did buy their self titled album in college, but I didn’t closely follow them like a true stan. Watching this documentary changed all that.

Image result for jonas brothers chasing happiness gif

I’m officially a hardcore JoBro fan!

… and for so many reasons! I love their new music, think they have grown into wonderfully handsome men, am OBSESSED with their three wives, and after watching Chasing Happiness, really feel like I understand them as individuals, but also as a band. Because of the struggles and the journey they went through as siblings to where they are now, makes me appreciate them even more.

Image result for jonas brothers chasing happiness gif

I don’t want to go too much into detail about what the documentary entails (if you have Amazon Prime, go watch it NOW!). I loved how much backstory was given in regards to forming the band and getting it started, to them losing everything (which I knew nothing of). The doc then moved on to show the brothers’ successes, public scrutiny, resentment of one another, to the eventual breakup heard around the world (with so much more sprinkled in I didn’t know). The doc then covered their solo careers, plus Kevin’s life as a family man, and the strain it all put on their relationships as brothers. The most interesting part to me was their “honesty drinking game” they played in which they had to answer questions I’m assuming they wrote for each other. I felt a little bit as if I was creeping in on something too personal that I shouldn’t be a part of; the guys share that much and it’s that real.

Don’t believe me?

“Now that you’re telling me that, I remember …”

Raise your hand if you’re enjoying Hannah’s season …

Image result for raise hand gif

I just love her so much, plus I’m not hating the men, so I don’t mind writing another Bachelor related post (you can find my previous one here: 55 Thoughts From the Bachelorette Premiere).

Enough about the past though, let’s get into this week’s episode!

Jed’s One-on-One:

Sooo, my satellite was out the majority of this date due to a storm. Based off Twitter, Hannah took Jed to see the Boston Celtics, and Jed didn’t seem too impressed by the players, even though Twitter said they were well known??  #kindofaturnoff

There’s also this …

Screenshot 2019-06-03 at 7.26.22 PM

My TV did return, right at the moment where Jed basically told Hannah he came on the show for it’s platform and to further his music career. While I (and Hannah seemed to) respect his honesty, I think Jed is officially out of my top four.

Group Date:

I agree with Hannah; you have got to be a MAN to survive this date, so bring it on! At the same time, I live in the Midwest and Rugby is not something we have around “these here parts.” What a freaking crazy sport!! I can not BELIEVE they don’t wear pads and that even if a player is down, the game keeps going.

Regardless. The date …

Image result for bachelorette rugby

… was extremely intense. The ambulance scene was totes overrated, however, the Luke on Luke drama was not. It completely looked like a cheap shot (given to Luke S from Luke P) based off the footage we were shown (& for once, it didn’t look edited).

Also, did you know that if you forget something, but someone tells you what happens, then you have the power to remember? Hm. Who knew?

Image result for the bachelorette recap

Ya learn something new everyday!

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, it was how Luke P reacted when called out on the lies he told regarding his altercation with Luke S later on the evening portion of the date. The guys ganging up on Luke P was my favorite part of the night (Hannah’s silver suit was my least).

Tyler’s One-on-One:

First, I understand completely why Hannah was upset going into the date; the previous evening and the actions of Luke P shook her. How many of you reading this have misjudged a person you were in a relationship with? She felt the strongest connection to someone who all the guys have an issue with; that has to be really tough to think your opinion of someone you really like may be (& probably is) wrong. However, Tyler was there to turn her frown upside down and melt the hearts of the audience in the process.

Second, all the single women watching Tyler’s date …

Screenshot 2019-06-04 at 3.48.25 PM

Finally, Jake Owens! Bachelorette bringing out the big names for this date!!

Cocktail Party:

Awwww, Hannah and Peter are dating! I thought it was funny and cute when he asked her to be official, while still being okay she’s dating fourteen other men (hahaha). Annnd, that’s really all I took from her one-on-ones at the cocktail party … besides the Luke on Luke drama.

I thought Cam’s amputated leg/sick grandma/puppy story from last week was the most BS one guy could feed Hannah at a time, but Luke P took the cake. He continued to lie all through the party. His best of the night had to be the following …

Luke P to Hannah:  “Luke S is not here for you, but here to promote his tequila brand.”

The guys to Luke: “Do you believe that Luke S is here for the wrong reasons?”

Luke P: “No, Luke S is here for the right reasons! I’ll go tell Hannah that right now!”

The guys: “Yeah, make sure you tell you how wrong you were.”

Luke P to Hannah: “Luke S wanted me to come up here and tell you he’s here for the right reasons.”

Or something like that. Watching at home, once the clock hit 8:55, (central time for me)  we knew we wouldn’t be getting a rose ceremony until next week. I foresee a Luke v. Luke date in our future, or a Luke S departure. I don’t think Luke P will leave just yet; I’m standing firm that he’s the one who makes the inappropriate “sex before marriage” comments that piss Hannah off. Regardless, between not having to sit through Jed’s date, the Luke drama, and sweet & precious Tyler, this episode was not a bore!

One Final Thing:

Before we go, I must plug my absolute favorite Bachelor Nation podcast, Broses Before Roses.

Image result for broses before rosesIt’s four (I’m assuming middle aged?) friends who watch and discuss the current season of whatever Bachelor franchise is playing.

And. they. are. freaking. hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Forewarning … they don’t take it as seriously as we all do, so there are times they get things wrong. There are also times they go weeks, or months without recording (which is so annoying!!). But I promise you, if you’re any sort of Bachelor fan, stick with these guys. They are so unbelievably funny! I wish they would recap more shows; it wouldn’t even have to be realty TV related. I’d take a recap of anything from them (except maybe sports).

Screenshot 2019-06-04 at 4.09.02 PM.pngFingers crossed they read this (maybe even give MHH a shout out on their show??), and realize that if we must all sit through two hours of Luke P … then they least they could do is twist it into hilarious content for our listening pleasure!

But for now … here’s to finding out which Luke goes home next week!

Hopefully both!

The Game Is Over #GOT Recap

Screenshot 2019-05-20 at 6.45.06 PM

I always feel so empty at the finale of a series. Think about it: all those years you put into it, every tweet or discussion with a friend … now it’s over. How will the characters’ lives go on if we can’t check in on them? For some reason, the Game of Thrones ending seemed the biggest of all. I don’t know if it’s because I was actually following along with the rest of the world instead of binging, or if it really was just that massive of a television event. Perhaps the show’s twists, turns, and shocking moments made it the world phenom it was. Regardless, I’m here to talk about it ending … and please don’t start a petition if you disagree with my thoughts.

Sunday night: I know I didn’t feel satisfied, but I also didn’t want to be angry like so many fans seemed to be. Mainly I was confused. Now that I’ve had some time to think about how the characters’ stories ended, I’m not confused or upset anymore. Everything actually makes so much sense, especially after two seasons of rushed storytelling.

So for this final Thrones post, I thought I’d go character by character to see where they landed on the scale of approval or disapproval as far as the writing.

Jon Snow: Initially I felt like, after all he’s been through, he gets banished to the Night Watch by his own brother … when Jon himself is the freaking one true heir to the Throne!? However, Jon never wanted the Throne, that was obvious. Also, I’m not sure if you would call them his happiest, but his days in the Night Watch, plus uniting the Free Folk with the Northerners seemed to be Jon’s most enjoyable (and stable) time. He was brought back to life by the Lord of Light to save the world, which he did in the battle against the White Walkers AND in killing Daenerys. After I really thought about it, I don’t know that I see Jon Snow living out his days anywhere else besides the Wall … or beyond.

Sansa Stark: What a story for this girl, to rise up from a little bird to now a queen! I have never been a Sansa Stark fan until this season and I really would have liked to see her rule the Seven Kingdoms. But, she is nothing if not loyal, and her loyalty to her people and home proves the person she is and the queen she’ll be. I also loved how she proclaimed the North’s independence! The girl is badass and will be as a ruler, no doubt!

Arya Stark: I would have enjoyed seeing Arya a) slit Cersei or Dany’s throat, & b) serve as the hand to the king (who I wish was Jon). But just as she’s not the lady by Gendry’s side, she’s also not an adviser to a ruler. She’s an assassin and explorer. I loved her emotional goodbye to Jon and the ending shot of her on the ship with the Stark wolf banner flying high!

Bran Stark: The. Last. Person. I. Would. Have. Chosen. To. Be. King … but, when I think back to everything he’s been through, mainly falling out of a tower window and watching Hodor die, I can see his story come full circle and his end being to sit on the Iron Throne. I knew there was more to that talk he had with Tyrion back in Winterfell, and I was really surprised Tyrion said Bran’s name when addressing the person who had the most interesting story; I thought for sure he’d say Jon. My least favorite scenes throughout the seasons were always Bran’s warging, but I guess they were important after all. They led him to the Throne.

Tyrion Lannister: I have been ride or die for Tyrion since early on … mostly because I relate to him in that I can’t fight, but would like to believe I could talk my way out of anything (I cannot). Plus he has the best quote of the show: “That’s what I do. I drink and I know things.” He killed his evil father, sided with Dany (before she went insane), and always seemed to see people’s true nature. With all that being said, I could not be happier that he made it until the end, especially when he had countless moments where he could have perished.

I love that a Lannister is now serving under a Stark (has this ever been a thing?), and he’s exactly where he needs to be: Hand of the King. Plus, how crazy that Bran is in a wheelchair and Tyrion is a dwarf, yet they are two of the most powerful men as the show comes to a close. All of it just proves that the strongest don’t always have what it takes to survive and rule.

Daenerys Targaryen: Okay, it wasn’t a huuuuge shock to me that she died. I wasn’t even really shocked it was Jon who killed her. I mean, I was, but I didn’t have a theory as to who would do it. The only way I would have been truly shocked was if she didn’t die at all. Jon killing her made sense; I’m glad he finally wasn’t turning a blind eye to her crazy (I think her speech to her soldiers did it for him; the b’s face was going so cray, I thought her eyes were going to fully pop out of her head).

I also appreciate Jon giving her, at least what seemed like, a merciful death. I mean, it seemed like she went quickly and somewhat peacefully? Omg, but if you want heart wrenching, it was seeing her dragon’s reaction. First, how he nudged her with his little snout, only to then lose it and spit fire. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I didn’t think Valyrian steel could melt by dragon fire? Or at least it seemed that way until Drogon really turned up the heat and melted down the Iron Throne to nothing. Many have theorized that Drogon knew the chair of 1,000 swords was the ultimate killer of his mother and that’s why he burned it down. I like that theory; I’ll take that!

Cersei & Jaime Lannister: Not fair that these two got to die together, however, if any character arc was fulfilled, it was theirs. I can’t believe the incestual twins were the epic love story of the series! While I was heartbroken Jaime left Brienne, it’s way more believable that he’d go back to his sister. I did like seeing Cersei beg not to die, but it would have been way more pleasurable for us fans to see her suffer, bleed out, be tortured, pulled apart by a dragon … ANYthing but go quick with the love of her life. “They came into this world together, and they left this world together.” Ugh, give me a break!

Yet, for some reason, this photo makes me so so sad …

Brienne of Tarth: I loved her ending, especially the part where she completed Jamie’s story in that big Knights dictionary. She took the high road, writing that “he died protecting his queen.”  Brienne would never be “the scorned woman” because she’s simply too good of a human, perhaps the only good one on the show.

Additional advisers to the king … aka, the Small Council:

  • Samwell Tarly as the Grand Maester is my absolute favorite thing ever! Rock that robe Sam!
  • Brienne of Tarth getting the respect she deserves as the only female adviser AND Lord Commander of the Kingsguard! You go, Glen Coco!
  • I’m really confused why Bronn of the Blackwater is Master of Coin? Like, he may have came into riches since he got promoted to Lord of Highgarden, buuuut he’s never really had money, soooo I’m unsure why he’s running the budget now.
  • Ser Davos, aka Master of Ships, is a good man, who deserved to live through everything, although I never fully expected for him to make it to the end.

Image result for game of thrones finale small council

Ghost: He definitely needed justice after the way Jon literally ghosted him earlier in the season. I’m glad he made it through everything, especially battling White Walkers, to go live happily ever after with Jon in the end!  Image result for heart emoji (Wait, is this the most epic love story of the series??)

Closing Thoughts

I don’t think I have any. Maybe I’ll have more once I’ve thought harder, read Twitter longer, and discussed with friends further. I’m so sad the show is over, but I feel like all the loose ends got tied up; I’m satisfied. The writers provided us a satisfying ending! Plus, since I’ve read the first book, I’ll be starting the second one this summer; it’s not like it’s actually over!

For all of you that watched along with me …

I decided that instead of recapping the premiere episode, I’d just keep track of my thoughts as they came to me while watching! Enjoy below and come find me on social media to share your thoughts too!

  • Omg I freaking love her!
  • I cried during ATFR when they showed Chris Harrison calling her and I’m crying this time too!
  • Ohh no! Not that awkward Colton toast again!
  • It may be silly, but I don’t think I’ve been this excited to watch the lead, rather than meet the “contestants.”  I’m PUMPED to see Hannah’s journey!

Image result for hannah b gif

  • Okay. The men. Hometown clips first.
  • This Tyler kid is cute … but um, not the best dancer …
  • THE PILOT IS CUTE!

  • Yes on the cute farm boy … no on the corporate man
  • Why do they keep calling her “The Bachelorette?!” Call her Hannah!

  • Mike Jones: “Tell me more about that!” Awww he’s pretty awesome; hitting the real, real topics; please don’t be playing her either!
  • These games are stupid; I prefer the actual conversations!

Quotable RHONY: 11×10

The housewives in New York City are out of control and I have the quotes and the countdown to prove it.

Cringest Quotes

1. Luann

Image result for luann de lesseps season 11

“What, is Bethenny going to go home and watch her daughter sleep? Because, it’s Halloween; it’s 11:00 at night. I mean, isn’t the kid sleeping?”

You. Ungrateful. Peasant. I can’t even with Luann right now! How DARE she say that about Bethenny?! First, you make B come out on a night she even has her daughter with her, second, you don’t come down to see the ladies or invite them up to see you before the show, and last, you don’t start your performance on time! I’m sure I’ll hear something like, “She started 9 minutes late! Bethenny couldn’t stay?” I don’t have children yet, but I’m fairly certain if you have to relieve your babysitter, than you have to go.

I thought the Luann “too big for her britches cabaret star”  story line was just to spruce up the season, but it’s very much true that she’s really feeling herself right now on the show. From not wanting the fish room, to talking shiz about Bethenny in the salon, to this. Get over yourself Countess!

Image result for luann bethenny bethenny bethenny gif

I suppose her reckoning is coming though, if you watched the mid-season trailer or if you’ve read recently headlines claiming she can’t stay sober. I should probably cut her some slack because she has an uphill climb, but that also doesn’t excuse her insensitive comments so far this season.

2. Tinsley

Image result for tinsley mortimer clown

“I figure if you’re going to lose it, and be so hysterical and emotional, you might as well do it looking like a clown, with a big bow on your head and like, pink cheeks.”

Yes, Tinsley, we can all see the big bow and the pink cheeks you’re wearing; you don’t have to remind us every episode. And quit acting like you were all embarrassed by your costume; you know you loved it.

Yay you for getting back into society … if getting back into society is having the Big Apple Circus announce your name and give you one line to say. Yay you for being strong and ending things with Scott … if being strong about it is getting drunk and hysterically crying over him. Yay you for having such a strong relationship with your mother … if having a strong relationship is relying on her like a child.

I know I know, I’m going hard on Tinsley too, and I do realize all she wants is a family. But, why does that have to define her? Why can’t she be strong on her own or put herself out there to meet the man of her dreams? Or heck, pull an Andy Cohen and get a baby before you get a man!? My annoyance with Tinsley comes from the fact that I just want to shake her, remind her how great her life is, and tell her to grow the F up!

3. Ramona

Image result for real housewives of new york season 11 dorinda

“I have lots of friends, so everyone can’t be invited; I’m sorry!”

As if her social climbing attempts that were caught on film this season haven’t been enough, plus the fact that she wants all these people to throw her birthday parties, Ramona helped create one of the most uncomfortable speeches in housewives’ history. THEN she had the audacity to blame it on Dorinda and Sonja (personally it was all three of their faults, but I like to put the majority of the blame on Ramona).

“Hello! You’re the one who reached me! [wtf does that even mean?!] I’m hosting and I invited you to co-chair, like why are you interrupting my speech? After I talk, then you talk.”

Riiiiight Ramona, because you’re the only one who ever has anything important to say.

4. Dorinda

Image result for real housewives of new york season 11 dorinda

“There you go. Important. Important. Don’t ever do that to me again. Don’t ever …”

I don’t necessarily judge Dorinda for her comments this week; she’s said much worse in the past. But, she was a part of that whole speech fiasco and she did interrupt Ramona (which she has a tendency to do), thus she made the list … if only because she contributed to us viewers having to watch part of the episode with one eye shut due to the awkwardness of it all.

However … not everything the women said this week was terrible because the ….

Greatest Quote Goes to

Sonja

Screenshot 2019-05-11 at 12.00.53 PM

“The best thing that Luann could do right now is do what every other diva does; they just say ‘I didn’t mean to miss you all. I couldn’t find you.’ Don’t be defensive! That’s not the answer! You needed to come over and kiss our rings …… we’re divas too!”

While she may have been unhinged a few week’s back with the “f***ing Morgan letters!!” Sonja is more and more becoming the voice of reason for all the ladies. Plus, she calls out each of her friends when they are wrong. She stood up for Bethenny when Luann was trying to shame her for leaving the performance early, and she called out Ramona for her birthday party comments, her actions toward Harry, & the entire Birdie/Bridie fiasco. Sonja wins this week for me!

Honorable Mention:
Bethenny

Screenshot 2019-05-11 at 12.16.43 PM

I realize Bethenny was also in this episode, but mainly it was her running to and from events, so I don’t have any specific quotes to shame or applaud her for. I’m quite sure she had some great comments in her interviews (as she always always does), plus it looks like next week she starts to come for Luann, which I’m ready for, but nothing too memorable this week for me to mention. Well, except for this …
